She has won five Emmy Awards for her weather coverage there. She was honored in 2010, 2013 and 2014 with the Rocky Mountain Emmy for Best Weathercast and in 2013 and 2016 for best On-Camera Weather Talent.

Amber has earned the American Meteorological Society’s Certified Broadcast Meteorologist designation, the highest seal attainable for a television meteorologist, and has served on the AMS Broadcast Board and Station Scientist Committee. She is also a member of the AMS/NWA Central Arizona chapter. 

In the summer of 2011, Amber was called on to go to New York and fill-in on Good Morning America where she covered the biggest heat wave of the year across the east coast. She has filled in several times since.

Amber attended the University of Arizona and earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Atmospheric Science with a double minor in Math and Journalism. Amber worked at the National Weather Service while attending the U of A and interned at KOLD-TV in Tucson.

Amber started her television career at KVIA-TV in El Paso, Texas. She was honored with two back-to-back Texas Associated Press Broadcasters Awards there for Best Weathercasts in 2007 and 2008. She was also recognized again at the Texas Legislature for these awards in May of 2009 when a house resolution was passed in her honor. Amber also volunteered her time to help the efforts of the El Paso Extreme Weather Task Force, taught meteorology classes at The University of Texas El Paso Center for Lifelong Learning and authored a weather activities book to help teach young children about severe weather safety.
