Hassayampa Preserve Site

Project Summary:
Hassayampa literally translated from the original Yavapai language means "upside down river."  An appropriate name as little more than 2 km of this river actually flow above ground.  The preserve offers an end-member sort of southwestern riparian system as the recharge that supplies baseflow to the perennial reach appears to derive entirely from a few large floods.
