Outreach and Service

A key mission of the department is to serve the local community, the State of Arizona, and national and international communities by:

 

  • Providing professional advice, technology transfer activities, and consultation on hydrology and water resources-related issues

  • Promoting national prominence by offering short courses and seminars for hydrology and water resources professionals

  • Promoting international prominence in all areas of hydrology and water resources by providing visiting faculty scholar and visiting student scholar training programs and opportunities

 

Outreach activities and Service activities are achieved primarily through:

 

  • Faculty involvement as advisors, chairs, and committee members of local, state, national, and international advisory panels and professional organizations

  • Faculty expertise in service to professional journals, societies, government agencies and national laboratories

  • Faculty collaboration with government and industry in developing educational projects, such as multimedia learning modules (K-12) related to water, global change, and the environment (e.g. the Arizona Rivers Project, GLOBE Project, SAHRA Educational Outreach) and specialized technical training

  • Faculty assistance to national and global communities in managing their water resources and in improving the economic conditions and the quality of life for their people
