Outreach and Service, A Primary Mission
One of the key missions of the department is to serve professionally the local community, the State of Arizona, and national and international communities by:

Providing community service through professional advice, technology transfer activities, and consultation on hydrology and water resources-related issues

Promoting national prominence by offering short courses and seminars for hydrology and water resources professionals

Promoting international prominence in all areas of hydrology and water resources by providing visiting faculty scholar and visiting student scholar training programs and opportunities
This mission is achieved primarily through:

Faculty involvement in local, state, national, and international advisory panels and professional organizations

Faculty collaboration with government and industry in developing educational projects, such as multimedia learning modules (K-12) related to water, global change, and the environment (e.g. the Arizona Rivers Project, GLOBE Project, SAHRA Educational Outreach)

Faculty assist national and global communities in managing their water resources and in improving the economic conditions and the quality of life for their people
Outreach to the Local Community, the State of Arizona, the Nation, and the World

Faculty Outreach: Faculty and graduate student presentations to off-campus groups, community organizations, advisory councils, townhalls, business and professional meetings, and elementary, middle, and senior high schools

Student Outreach: Peer advising or presentations to UA students, K-12 students, other community organizations

Staff Outreach: Staff assistance to other campus offices, advisory councils, professional organizations, ad hoc committees, and taskforces
Service to the University of Arizona, Professional Societies and Organizations, Taskforces, and Expert Testimony
