What to do and how to do it
Options:
- Discuss where soil moisture may be least/greatest ....
- Before going outside, have students list or draw areas they think might be damp or dry ....
- Class field trip - tour your grounds as a group
- Student teams - find wettest/driest spots and largest/smallest patch with a clear contrast ....
- Have students produce map of soil moisture
- What plants and animals do you find in wet/dry areas?
- Where to look hints: shadows, under trees/rocks, below a down-spout; open areas
