The most viable source of departmental financial aid is a Graduate Assistantship in Research. HWR funding sources for Graduate Assistantships in Teaching, Fee Scholarships, and Fellowships are limited. With the exception of a few recruitment fellowships, most Fellowships that become available are awarded to current students.
The department does not maintain an active list of available Graduate Assistantships in research positions that may be available with individual faculty members. We encourage you to read about faculty research projects in the Research section of this website and see what areas interest you (Research --> Research Projects).
If you click on the Research Project Title, you can see more details (e.g. students currently working on the project, availability of positions and the level of hire (undergraduate, graduate, or both). Click on the keyword terms listed for the project to see if there are other projects in a similar area that may need students.
We also encourage you to contact individual faculty members when you apply to advise them about your application.
You do not need to submit a separate application for departmental financial aid. When they review your Graduate Application for Admission, individual faculty reviewers will consider you any type of financial support for which you may be eligible. On the Graduate Application for Admission, you may indicate the types of financial support for which you would like to be considered.
