Nearing, Condon, Merino, and McEntire Named 2013 Galileo Scholars in College of Science

Congratulations to Grey Nearing, Ph.D. student, Katherine Condon and Mañuel Merino, both M.S. students, and Samantha McEntire, B.S. student, who were recently inducted into the Galileo Circle as Student Scholars for Spring 2013. 
 
The newest Galileo Scholars, representing the finest graduate and undergraduate students in the College of Science, were inducted at a dinner sponsored by the Galileo Circle and its Patrons last month.

Congratulations to Carlos Soto, HWR's Latest Marshall Foundation Dissertation Fellow!

Congratulations to Carlos Daniel Soto, HWR's latest Marshall Foundation Dissertation Fellow.  Carlos was one of six University of Arizona doctoral students to win the 2013 competition.  Marshall Foundation Fellows received a $10,788 stipend award for the Spring 2013 semester and will receive Graduate Tuition Scholarships for both Spring 2013 and Fall 2013.
 

Matthew Stroud Wins Top CAP Research Award for 2012

Congratulations to HWR alum, Matthew Stroud, who was recently awarded the First Place Prize in the Central Arizona Project’s annual Water Research Award competition.  Competition for the CAP water research prize is keen, as papers are submitted by undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at any college or university in the State of Arizona throughout the calendar year.

Chelsea Kestler, undergraduate in the Bachelor of Science program in Environmental Hydrology and Water Resources, has been selected as the Arizona Hydrological Society Tucson Chapter’s 2012 Leonard Halpenny Intern.
 

Patrick Broxton Wins Best Student Paper Award at Fall 2011 AGU Meeting

Congratulations are in order for Patrick Broxton, doctoral student in Hydrometeorology!
 
The Hydrology Section of the American Geophysical Union recently announced that Broxton had won a Best Student Paper Award at the December 2011 annual meeting in San Francisco, California.
 

Three HWR Students Win Water Sustainability Fellowships for 2012-2013

Great news from the UA's Water Sustainability Program
 
Student Fellowship Awards for FY2013 were announced today, and 3 of the 8 awards were made to HWR students!  In all, 4 graduate and 4 undergraduate students were selected as WSP Fellows.  Undergraduate fellows will receive awards of $2,750 each and graduate fellows will receive awards ranging from $14,167 to $18,500.
