Alum Paul Hsieh Recipient of NGWA's John Hem Award for Excellence in Science and Engineering

Our heartiest congratulations go to HWR Alum Paul Hsieh (PHD '83) on receiving the National Groundwater Association John Hem Award for Excellence in Science and Engineering!  Since 1991, the NGWA has recognized annually a scientist or engineer who has made a significant contribution to the understanding of groundwater.
 

HWR Alum Leo Leonhart Represents HWR at Fort Mojave Tribal Career Fair

Much thanks and appreciation go to Dr. Leo Leonhart, HWR alum and Adjunct Professor,  who recently represented the department at the Fifth Annual Fort Mojave Tribal Career Fair in Laughlin, NV.  The Fort Mojave Tribal lands stretch along the banks of the Colorado River in Arizona and Nevada.
 

Paul Hsieh, Our Hero in the BP Oil Spill

Paul Anthony Hsieh (MS ’79, Advisor Thomas Maddock III; PHD ’83, Advisor Shlomo Neuman), an HWR alum, member of the HWR Departmental Advisory Committee, and current USGS scientist and research hydrologist, was recognized as a “hero in a chaotic time” by the presidential commission for the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill.
