The American Geophysical Union's Robert Horton Doctoral Research Grant is awarded annually for the top two doctoral dissertations written in the field of hydrology and water resources (or closely allied field).  The 1st award was made in 1983 to Jane Stockman of Stanford University.  The 2nd award was made in 1984 to Javier Samper of the University of Arizona's Department of Hydrology and Water Resources.
