The Central Arizonal Project (CAP) awards two prizes annually for the best research papers written by an undergraduate or graduate student enrolled at any college or university within the State of Arizona. The First Place Award is valued at $1000 and the Second Place Award is valued at $500.
The purpose of the competition is to encourage and support water research in colleges and universities throughout Arizona and to raise public awareness of the Central Arizona Project, as well as water issues in general. Past research topics have included drought management, environmental law, groundwater resources, surface water, conservation, Native American water rights, recharge, water supply and use, and climate change.
