A hearty round of applause, please, for Dr. Martha P.L. Whitaker, Assistant Professor of Practice, on receiving the 2017 College of Science Distinguished Advising Award!  Whitaker currently serves as HAS Undergraduate Coordinator for students majoring in environmental hydrology and Director of Graduate Studies for students majoring in hydrology.

Dean Joaquin Ruiz and Department Head Eric Betterton presented the award to Whitaker at the annual College of Science Faculty Reception held Monday, September 18 at the historic Arizona Inn.

The award is given annually by the College of Science to recognize one advisor from the college who demonstrates outstanding, extensive, and continuous involvement in undergraduate advising.

The glass plaque adds to Whitaker's growing collection of advising and teaching awards: Martha has been recognized by students with an Aqua Person Award (Outstanding Faculty Instructor) at El Día del Agua y la Atmósfera (2014, 2015, 2016) and by her faculty and advising colleagues from the University of Arizona (2011) and NACADA, the National Academic Advising Association (2010).

Congratulations, Martha, for this very well deserved award!
